The Porsche 911 (997) was launched in 2004, initially in Carrera 2 and Carrera 2S guise.
Progressing the 911's development in a evolutionary rather than revolutionary way as always, the 997 saw a car that, whilst looking familiar to the outgoing 996, was radically different in every way.
The model evolved through 4 Wheel Drive and Turbo variants and saw the Generation 1 RS arrive at the end of 2006.
After a mild face-lift in 2008, which finally included the availability of a Bluetooth telephone system for the first time in a Porsche, the Generation 2 RS arrived in late 2009, Featuring a 3.8 litre flat 6 producing 444 BHP and 318 Lb Ft of torque.
In recent times it has been accepted and appreciated that the Gen 2 RS, whilst still very young, is already a classic with the replacement 991 variants only being offered with a PDK Gearbox.
So potentially, the Gen 2 variants are the last with a manual gearbox and as such have become very collectible - an instant classic even !
Other unique features in the RS include a Plexiglas rear window, titanium exhaust system and a single mass flywheel.
Worldwide volume was around 1,600 units, with the UK RHD market receiving 138.
