The 911 Carrera models were the result of continual development of the 911 series since its original launch in 1963.
Dubbed the G Series, this model also saw the Carrera name revived for the first time since 1977. The 911 Carrera was launched for the 1984 model year to replace the era of 911 SC which ran from 1978 to 1983.
The only obvious physical change was the inclusion of the front foglights recessed in the front valance, other than that the Carrera looked the same as its predecessor, but the major changes were under the skin.
The engine increased in size to 3.2 Litres coupled with new Inlet and Exhaust manifolds and new Electronic Fuel Injection, producing 231 BHP, plus bigger brakes. The 915 gearbox was carried over from the SC until the 1987 Model Year when the G50 was fitted.
